Honda Center

Originally known as the Anaheim Arena, the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, was completed in 1993 at a cost of approximately $123 million ($255 million in today’s money). Funding for the construction was a blend of public and private financing, with a $30 million contribution from the City of Anaheim and the rest secured through a group of private investors, led by the Walt Disney Company.

At its inception, the Honda Center stood as one of the largest indoor arenas in the United States, boasting seating for 17,174 in hockey games and 18,900 for concerts and other events. Since then, the arena has undergone transformative renovations, including the 2019 Anaheim Honda Center Project that brought modernization and upgrades to its facilities and amenities.

The Anaheim Honda Center Upgrade Project (2019) marked a momentous renovation and expansion effort. Its mission: to contemporize the arena and heighten its functionality, catering better to the community's needs.

The Upgrade Project entailed significant enhancements, such as the addition of new seating, upscale hospitality areas, a team store, improved food and beverage facilities, upgraded technology and Wi-Fi capabilities, and enhanced accessibility features. Additionally, a vibrant outdoor plaza was introduced, serving as a lively gathering space for fans before and after events.

The Anaheim Honda Center Upgrade Project had a total price tag of approximately $120 million. Funding comprised private investments, including contributions from the Anaheim Ducks, the arena's primary tenant, and public financing that included a $25 million loan from the City of Anaheim.

Upon completion in 2019, the Upgrade Project garnered positive reception from fans and visitors who commended the improved amenities and modernized facilities. Moreover, the project stimulated economic activity in the surrounding area, attracting new events and visitors to the arena.
